Water and Sanitation Mission

              Kancheepuram district has been sanctioned the Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) under the Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission. The project funding will be shared by the Department of Drinking Water and Supply, Government of India, and the State Government of Tamil Nadu. The project will be under way for three years in the district and will bring about reforms in the following sectors:

                                Environmental sanitation & management                       

            The project has been launched in July 2002 in all rural areas of the district comprising of 648 Panchayats of the district. The Kanchipuram District Water and Sanitation Mission (KDWSM), which will implement the project, has been formed as a registered society. You may be interested to know more about the project.
